Thousands
of babies have been born at the Center for Life at OSF Saint
Anthony Medical Center. But we dont get caught up in numbers
because we know that each baby and every family is special.
Our Mission is to celebrate life and nowhere is that more evident
than the Center for Life. As you read more about our facilities
and programs, keep in mind you can call the Center for Life

Your
Comfort Matters
The
Center for Life is more than a place where new life is welcomed
into the world. It is a place where caring, dedicated healthcare
professionals are available to provide support during your
pregnancy, delivery and even after you return home.
We
encourage family closeness and participation in every aspect
before, during and after the birth of your baby. Thats
why our spacious labor, delivery and recovery (LDR) suites
allow you to labor, deliver and recover in an atmosphere that
looks more like home than a hospital.
Each
room is individually and beautifully decorated in soothing
and pleasant colors. The birthing bed adjusts to individual
birthing preference. There is even an adjustable recliner for
fathers-to-be to nap on. Each private bath is equipped with
a shower and luxurious jacuzzi, which can help relieve back
discomfort during the early stages of labor and assist the
healing process after delivery. Theres also a remote
control television and VCR. C-section and recovery room care
are provided by our staff in the Center.
Postpartum
care is given in a private suite. Its a place where family
and friends can visit, relax and get acquainted. There is even
a rocker so families can introduce their newborn to the joys
of snuggling.
Our
"rooming in" program allows you to have your baby
stay in your room throughout your stay. You can also choose
a modified "rooming in" plan where your baby stays
with you during the day, but sleeps in out secured nursery
at night. In addition to our regular nursery, the Center for
Life features a Level II nursery for babies who need a little
extra support and monitoring. |

After
Your Baby Is Born
At the
Center for Life, we want to help you make a successful transition
into parenthood. Our Patient Education Coordinator will see
to the many questions and concerns you might have about caring
for yourself and your baby. Our Certified Lactation Consultant
can help coordinate breastfeeding during your stay and after
you return home. Our Clinical Nurse Specialist/Case Manager
will address any issues you may have during your stay.
In addition,
the Center for Life is home to the only Post-Partum Clinic
in the Midwest. This program encourages new mothers to schedule
an appointment within 48 hours of their discharge for a free
physical assessment and a continuation of postnatal care and
education. |
